In the past week multiple robberies, home invasions, and shootings are occurring at a rapid pace.

What are police doing to stop this?

Mike McNickel lives on East Oklahoma Place.  Where Monday night a pregnant woman was assaulted by three men.  McNickel is clearly affected.

“It’s kind of scary, I mean a pregnant woman getting beat inside of a house, all for a TV.  But thats the world we live in.”

Jason Willingham with the Tulsa Police Department encourages anyone who sees something suspicious their neighborhood to call the police in stead of dealing with it themselves.

Sure that’s something you’ve heard before, but here’s something maybe you haven’t.

Burglaries may start off as random and non-violent, but Willingham says they are bridging crimes.  When a person is successful at committing them, the risk for them to step up to more dangerous crimes gets larger.

Neighborhood watch programs are also strongly encourage to limit illegal activity in your surrounding area.  To create a neighborhood watch program you can call Tulsa’s Crime Commission at (918) 585-5209.
